Life in Pieces balances the ridiculousness of flushing Cheetos bags with very real moments, like an inability to conceive children naturally. The next moment you may find her trying to flush a Cheeto bag down the toilet to win a trash contest. One moment she is giving a profound outlook on life, like when said it was okay to not be the best as long as you’re not the worst. Sofia is smart and funny and wise beyond her years while still maintaining childhood innocence. Heather’s youngest daughter, Sofia is also a gem and Giselle Eisenberg, the actress that plays her, deserves some attention. Not everyone’s family is as close knit as the Shorts so she finds their constant presence weird and a bit much at times, but in their absence she realizes that she loves them and that family really can make the small moments feel like huge moments. She kind of keeps the show grounded and snaps everyone back to reality with her outlook on family. Greg’s wife, Jen is a personal favorite of mine. Heather has two daughters and a son of her own and the series opens with Greg welcoming his first born into the world. The family consists of a mother (Joan - a therapist) and father (John - retired army pilot) that have three children, Matt, Greg (married), and Heather (married). The characters just felt so real and although I couldn’t actually relate I still felt a sense of connection to these characters. I was confused because as I said earlier, I first saw the show on Netflix, but I didn’t ask any questions I picked up right where I left off and was once again wrapped up in the Short’s shenanigans. Some time in the future I was perusing Hulu and there it was, Life in Pieces. When I finally remembered, there had already been like 10 episodes, so once again had to play the waiting game and wait for it to hit streaming. I saw that she show had in fact been renewed by CBS for another season and I was happy, but sad because I had to wait. I needed to know if there was already more or if there would be more. If something in the wild can spark a memory from the show and I have to actively try to contain my smile and laughter as to not look like I’ve lost it, it’s got the makings of a good comedy in my eyes.Īfter I quickly finished that first season on Netflix I was ready for more. That is one of the measures of a good comedy for me. The jokes land most of the time for me and sometimes I find myself remembering bits of the episodes and laughing about them randomly. Life in Pieces ~might~ make you cry, but probably for a different reason. Life in Pieces gives me the vibes of Parenthood, but without so much heartache and sadness (I loved Parenthood, but I cried on many occasions). Sometimes all of the stories are interconnected and build to a final story that includes all of the family members, other times the stories are a bit more disconnected. The episodes consist of four stories and each of those stories contains a different branch of the family or different pairing of family members. In the simplest terms Life in Pieces is a comedy about a family told through short stories featuring different family members. *there are some exceptions to this two episode minimum Well, before I knew it 2 episodes turned into 4, 4 turned into 6, and the next thing I knew I was halfway through the series (at the time there was only one season available to watch, now the series has just finished airing it’s fourth and final season). If I hated it I could bow out in about an hour (yes, I know I just said the episodes were under 30 minutes, but I have a 2 episode minimum* when embarking on new television adventures). After seeing the series was about 23-25 minutes I decided it was a low risk investment. After days of accidentally rewatching Parks and Rec and passing over this show I decided it was time to at least see what it was about (I cannot remember exactly what the Netflix synopsis was, but I’m pretty sure it was something vague and did not do the show any justice). I was recovering from the hectic semester I had just finished and I was in need of something to watch (sure I could have finished one of the numerous series in my unfinished pile, but there's nothing like a fresh obsession). I recall a few summers ago scrolling through Netflix, seeing the title card for Life in Pieces and proceeding to scroll past it. There's one other way to prevent iCloud Photo Library from syncing your images: by turning off cellular support for the Photos app and disabling Wi-Fi for the day. How to pause iCloud Photo Library sync for the day on your iPhone or iPad The Optimize Storage feature won't optimize anything iCloud hasn't already backed up if those images and video aren't backed up, the app won't touch them when considering what to offload. Use this method at your own risk if you don't have an alternate backup option (like an external drive or other cloud service). Note: If you pause iCloud Photo Library's upload feature, your most recent photos, and video will not be synced with iCloud or your other devices, and thus won't be backed up anywhere. But there's an even easier way to ensure your most recent video shoot is easily accessible: Pause iCloud Photo Library's uploading. When deciding what to keep on your device, iCloud Photo Library tends to prioritize the most recent images and videos you've taken. Pause iCloud Photo Library upload (Image credit: iMore) How to keep recently-taken photos and video on your device So, while you can technically download an image from iCloud Photo Library by tapping on it - you'll see a processing icon in the lower right corner of the photo as it downloads - there's no guarantee that image will stay downloaded to your iPhone forever, especially if you don't look at it for awhile. ![]() If you have 15GB of apps, iCloud's photo allotment might be closer to 10GB.Īs your storage ratios change, iCloud Photo Library removes local copies of older photos using semi-intelligent rules (older images, those you haven't viewed in a while, etc) to free up more space. This is the first such review on this genus and represents half a decade of literature dedicated to Dendrobium micropropagation. Information on the in vitro responses of Dendrobium for developing efficient protocols for breeding techniques based on tissue culture, such as polyploidization, somatic hybridization, isolation of mutants and somaclonal variants and for synthetic seed and bioreactor technology, or for genetic transformation, is discussed in this review. Not only will this expand the use for mass propagation, but will also allow for the conservation of important germplasm. This review will allow Dendrobium specialists to use the information that has been documented to establish, more efficiently, protocols for their own germplasm and to improve in vitro culture conditions based on the optimized parameters detailed in this review. ![]() Through a chronological analysis, aspects such as explant, basal medium, plant growth regulators, culture conditions and final organogenic outcome are chronicled in detail. This review provides a detailed overview of the Dendrobium micropropagation literature. Tissue culture is now an established method for the effective propagation of members of this genus. The protocol is simple, rapid, and efficient for large-scale propagation of African violet and the dual routes of regeneration allow for multiple applications of the technology from simple clonal propagation to induction or selection of variants to the production of synthetic seeds.ĭa Silva, Jaime A Teixeira Cardoso, Jean Carlos Dobránszki, Judit Zeng, Songjunĭendrobium is one of the largest and most important (ornamentally and medicinally) orchid genera. In this process, plant regeneration occurs via both somatic embryogenesis and shoot organogenesis simultaneously in the explants induced with the growth regulator thidiazuron (TDZ N-phenyl-N'-1,2,3-thidiazol-5-ylurea). The current chapter describes an optimized protocol for micropropagation of African violets using leaf explants obtained from in vitro grown plants. Development of cost-effective protocols with a high rate of multiplication is a crucial requirement for commercial application of micropropagation. Successful in vitro propagation depends on the specific requirements and precise manipulation of various factors such as the type of explants used, physiological state of the mother plant, plant growth regulators in the culture medium, and growth conditions.
